Why Talk to Director Steve?
✅ Family First:
Share your values, ask questions, and see if we’re the right fit—no pressure.
✅ No “One-Size” Camps:
Steve personally learns about your child to ensure they thrive.
✅ Build Trust Early:
Understand our safety-first, values-driven approach upfront.
1. Chat with Director Steve
✅ Personalized insight: Schedule a call/Zoom to discuss camp life, address concerns, and design your child’s ideal schedule.
✅ No question too small: Bring a list—Steve’s here to ease worries and share what makes Explorer Camps unique.
2. Explore Together
✅ Team effort: Browse our website, watch camp videos, and read parent reviews with your child to build excitement.
✅ See the values: Our Google Reviews highlight the family-first culture we’re proud of.
3. Share Their Story
✅ Tell us everything: Food preferences, hobbies, bedtime routines—we’ll use these details to create their perfect camp experience (and roommate match!).
4. Friends Before Day One
✅ Early bonds: Your child gets a welcome letter from their counselor and access to our Camp Connect App to chat with future bunkmates.
✅ Big Sib magic: For those young ones, a seasoned camper mentors them pre-arrival—think pen pals turned camp allies.
5. Join the Virtual Welcome
✅ Zoom prep session: Meet Steve, tour camp routines, and ask last-minute questions. Leave feeling part of the Explorer family.
Letters Home
Once a week your child will write a letter to you, which will be scanned and sent to you via our phone app. It is a great opportunity for your child to communicate their emotions and for you also to reply back!
Over 200 Photos a Day
You can closely follow your child’s camp experience by visiting our private Google Drive folder. Each day our Camp Photographers upload at least 200 photos of all of our children, so you can be an active part of our Explorer family.
Phone Calls are Possible
Yes, we are an electronic free camp which means your child will not be using their own phone. But we can arrange phone calls via our Camp Director’s phone throughout their time on camp as we understand both our campers’ and parents’ needs.
Small Groups – Personal Attention
The group size of our younger campers is usually between 8-10 children which means there is a camper to staff ration of 4:1. Our staff is simply the best. They are kind, fun people, talented educators and 100% dedicated to YOU and YOUR CHILD.
Camp Director Updates
Steve is in constant close contact with our younger groups, always checking in to see how your children are doing. Quite often you will receive personal individual and honest updates on your child including pictures demonstrating the fun your child is having. You will always be kept up-to-date with the progress of camp.
Personal Feedback
At the end of the camp, you and your child will receive unique an detailed feedback on their camp experience. It is a wonderful way to understand the whole camp experience and to really strengthen what he or she did on camp.
Virtual Camps
A new addition to our Explorer programs, our virtual camps are an amazing way for your child to extend their camp experience to noremal school days. A wide range of activities means that he or she can build on their camp experience.
It will help them normalise the experience and see that good things can come from it.
Explain that there are ups and downs so that they are prepared mentally.
The last thing that parents should do is make promises about picking up or phone calls.
It is what to look forward to on camp and something they check in on while there. Do it together!
Take your child to their grandparents or friends so they can get a taste for staying away from home.
By doing it together, you and your child are able to connect and establish firm bonds.
