International Winter and Summer Kids' and Teens' Camps in Slovenia and Austria for 6-17 year olds
At Explorer Camps, we believe friendships are at the heart of the camp experience. Choosing our 2-week program allows campers to forge deeper bonds with peers as they share adventures, challenges, and memorable moments. With extra time to interact, campers become more than just friends—they become a supportive community that enhances their social skills and emotional growth.
The journey of personal growth is amplified during a 2-week stay. Campers have the opportunity to step out of their comfort zones and fully engage in new activities, fostering self-confidence and independence. With a familiar environment and supportive friends, they can explore their interests and develop new skills without the rush, making every moment count.
Our 2-week program is designed to keep excitement alive! Each week introduces new activities—whether it’s hiking, stand-up paddleboarding, or creative evening events—ensuring that no two days are the same. This variety not only prevents repetition but also keeps campers eagerly anticipating what’s next, resulting in a dynamic and engaging camp experience that captivates their imaginations.
All children staying for 2 weeks spend the day in Ljubljana where they go bowling, go-karting, lazer tag, and virtual reality games.
Each week 2-weekers have two different full-days away from camp. Whether it be on Sava River, Hiking, or Biking they have 2 day away.
2-weekers can take advantage of the increased choice the 2nd week and do activities they didn't try the 1st week or even master an activity such as archery.
Those campers staying for 2-weeks are given the chance to build their leadership skills in activities which is not given to those doing only one week.
Outdoor activities such as Aquatreking, Adventure Park, Zipliing, Mini-Rafting, Underground Museum are only guaranteed if a child is doing the 2-week program.
Without doubt the bonds formed by those attending the 2-week program are much stronger than those coming just for the 1 week.
It’s a challenge to be away from your phone, so potentially for the first day you might? But generally from the second day onwards you’ll be too busy socially to even think about your screens at home. For those staying 2-weeks you’ll be able to get your phone for an hour or so over the weekend, but not during the week.
Some of our campers do, however many don’t and still create unforgettable friendships with those around them. Often we connect our teens with each other before the camp begins to start the friendships before even arriving. But even on camp our #1 targer it building togetherness so groups are always a really tight, caring and positive envronment to be in. Staying for 2-weeks only increases your opportunities to build real relationships with those around you.
Potentially, yes, but there are a number of reasons for this. The most common is that the friendships are much stronger the second week so campers generally stay away longer chatting which means reduced sleep. Adding to that, it’s natural being such an outdoor camp for children to get tired the longer it goes, which is why we encourage our 2-weekers especially to take longer breaks.
Due to our small group size, we’re able to give a lot of personal support and can adjust activities to suit our teens. However, if there is something that you simply can’t do then that’s OK because we believe in choice. Both Down Time, and Afternoon Choice sessions are completely choice so it’s up to tweens what they do. Coming for the 2nd week empowers you to know what you want to do and make those decisions earlier, even allowing you to suggest your own activities which aren’t even in the program.
Absolutely. Our camps are built on choice so every day there are Downtime and Afternoon Choice sessions where you can choose from a whole host of potential activities. What’s even better is that you’re able to suggest potential activities and our staff will do their best to accommodate you.
Good question! Typically we try to get campers to stay in the same group as they were the first week as changing can create more negative than positive. However, we always look to work together with our campers and ensure that they have an incredible experience with us so if there’s a need to change a group because of the internal dynamics we definitely can.
Everyone needs space and we certainly encourage our 2-weekers to take some time to themselves whether it’s in their house, outside in our ‘Chillout Area’, or even down by the lake. Even though we do have day trips and potential activities planned, we also understand the need to relax and reenergise too!
As mentioned in the highlights, we try to create two extremely different programs so that there is very little repetition. When a camper does the same thing such as hiking, they go to a different spot and do different activities during it so that those 2-weekers involved don’t get bored. We also have different days away, evening activities, and add some little … surprises during the day also.
We aim to have those staying or 2-weeks to be in the same room and house as they were before, as this is the easiest for all. At times there may be a need to change rooms, however usually it’s possible to stay in the same place.
Missing home is a really normal part of camp and actually an essential part of growing up. Our incredible team is trained extensively in approaches at how to create a truly warm and welcoming environment on camp so that scuh feelings about home are usually quite short, and also how to react when it comes up. So, you’re in safe hands. Of course, if there is a need to speak with home we can arrange it whether it’s about writing a letter home or sending a video or even calling, we’re there to help and support you. Calling over the weekend is good, though we certainly encourge our families to minimise the contact.
