CAMPER SAFETY:
Medical Centre
The Health Centre keeps camper safety as the #1 priority. It's equipped to provide basic medical care and is staffed by our Camp Nurses, members of the Za Življene organisation, at all times of day for the duration of the camps.
They provide first aid care, dispense medication, and assess injuries and illnesses with the support of senior staff for additional care outside of camp. In most cases a camper in need of medical attention will be taken directly to Kočevlje Hospital which is an approximate 30-40 minute drive from the campsite.
ZAŽIVLJENENJE
1st Aid & Mental Health certified
All staff members are trained, and certified in 1st Aid with most as Emergency First Responders. This covers areas such as CPR; Shocks, Spinal Management and Severe Bleeding; Bandaging; Burns; and Fractures.
In addition, all staff are trained and certified in Youth Mental Health which is run by an American based company L.E.A.D. but lead by Camp Director Steve Hartley. This ensures both ehe mental and physical health of your children are our #1 priority.
EFR 1ST AID
expert training
Explorer Camps trains staff combining online and in-person learning. The goal is to ensure our staff come to camp with the best possible experience and knowledge to support your children.
The minimum of 5 hours of training includes such topics as: Safe Touch and Talk; Preventing Bullying; Skilful Discipline Approaches; Becoming a Youth; Risk Management; and Water Safety.
Explorer Camps also has an extensive approach to Risk Management where all staff are trained for it, plus an extensive on-site process is strictly followed.
EOT COURSE
Certified programs
Hotel Kovač, the location of Explorer Camps, has been running year round school camps since 1994. As a result, they have a wealth of experience running programs with children, and keeping them safe.
Their experienced and certified staff have at least one Explorer staff members as support to run numerous activities. These include Rafting; Kayaking; Zip Lining; Horse Riding; Giant Swing; River Tubing; Paintball.
