DISCOVERER PROGRAM

Wrapped in Warmth & Friendship

Our Discoverer program is built on fostering strong connections. We believe that a positive camp experience begins with feeling loved and supported. Our experienced mentors cultivate a genuine family atmosphere, showering campers with the care and attention they need while away from home. We encourage friendships to blossom within the group, ensuring every child feels a sense of belonging and has an amazing time at camp while constantly being supervised.

Safety First: Your Child's Well-being is Our Priority

At Explorer Camps, your child’s safety is our top priority. We maintain a low 4:1 camper-to-staff ratio, guaranteeing personalized attention and constant supervision. Our team undergoes training in 1st aid, CPR, child development, and conflict resolution, equipping them to handle any situation. A certified 1st aider is present at camp 24/7 to address medical needs promptly and effectively. We conduct thorough background checks on all staff and follow strict safety protocols

Small Groups, Big Attention

Our Discoverer groups are intentionally kept small, with just 6-8 children in each group. This allows our dedicated team to provide personalized attention and cater to each child’s individual needs and learning style. With this focused approach, we can truly support their growth by helping them build essential life skills – developing self-confidence and independence along the way. We ensure your little one leaves camp happy, healthy, and equipped with valuable skills.

DISCOVERER FAQs

It’s a challenge to be away from your phone, so potentially for the first day you might? But generally from the second day onwards you’ll be too busy socially to even think about your screens at home.

Some of our campers do, however many don’t and still create unforgettable friendships with those around them. Often we connect our teens with each other before the camp begins to start the friendships before even arriving. But even on camp our #1 targer it building togetherness so groups are always a really tight, caring and positive envronment to be in.

No. While we’re in the outdoors and encouraging our younger campers to be active, we also understand the need for breaks and to enjoy an activity rather than being too physcial and demanding.

Due to our small group size, we’re able to give a lot of personal support and can adjust activities to suit our teens. However, if there is something that you simply can’t do then that’s OK because we believe in choice. Both Down Time, and Afternoon Choice sessions are completely choice so it’s up to tweens what they do.

Absolutely. As much as our Discoverers love getting involved with everything, naturally it’s challenging to keep up with the rest of the camp so they’ve given more opportunities to take a break away from it all.

While we’re definitely an outdoor type of camp, it certainly isn’t our only focus. It’s possible to cook, paint, do pottery, knit, weave, build castles, create movies, perform a play … there are so many things to do on camp that aren’t sports related so you’ll never get bored!

Everyone needs space and we certainly encourage our teens to take some time to themselves whether it’s in their house, outside in our ‘Chillout Area’, or even down by the lake. It’s also possible for you to present activities to our team and they will help you do it … with your help and planning of course.

Each Discoverer group has two staff members for every activity. A Counselor and an Assistant Counselor. This means Discoverers have a child to staff ratio of 4:1 BEFORE we add the Assistant Director who also often helps out.

Make sure you check out the Camp Life page as you can see it all there, but it’s really a luxurious place to stay and not your normal summer accmmodation at a kids’ camp. Fully air-conditioned. Modern facilities. Huge outdoor covered terrace. It has it all really.

Missing home is a really normal part of camp and actually an essential part of growing up. Our incredible team is trained extensively in approaches at how to create a truly warm and welcoming environment on camp so that scuh feelings about home are usually quite short, and also how to react when it comes up. So, you’re in safe hands. Of course, if there is a need to speak with home we can arrange it whether it’s about writing a letter home or sending a video or even calling, we’re there to help and support you.
