Explorer School Camps has a very strict approach to supervising children ensuring that all students have 24/7 supervision so that their emotional, mental and physical safety is the #1 priority throughout the camp. The average ratio of 1:6 between instructors and students ensures Explorer staff are responsible for direct supervision on and away from activities, and also work with school staff to provide effective supervision, great care and strong guidance for all students.
Explorer Camps takes the risks present at camp seriously, and we work to minimize, isolate or even eliminate them as we can, but we also recognize and facilitate the undertaking of activities where the risk of injury is present and generally more likely than life at home, sometimes significantly. While we see healthy risk taking as an important part of camp, we have an extensive approach to Risk Management to ensure staff have processes and procedures in place to follow and lead them in decision making.
