International Winter and Summer Kids' and Teens' Camps in Slovenia and Austria for 6-17 year olds
Explorer School Camps has a site at the Forest School which is located at the jewel of Slovenia, Bohinj Lake. Surrounded by towering mountains and incredible forests, Bohinj provides everything an outdoor school camp needs whether it be canoeing, hiking, biking or even air rifles.
Students stay at a single building with dortimatory style rooms and shared bathrooms with the cook and receptionist living on-site the entire stay. All activities are found on location, along with various indoor spaces for potential school work.
A maximum capacity of 30 students ensures a very close, warm and personal experience building greater togetherness between school students.
The entire accommodation is reserved only for Explorer Camps which ensures privacy, safety and freedom to use the wide variety of activities on offer.
Due to Explorer Camps taking the role of supervision, teachers are able to step back and observe their students from a more passive position.
A whole range of educational additions are provided to create an even more unique experience for students and schools.
Explorer School Camps has a site at Hotel Kovač which is on the magnificent Kolpa River in Osilnica Slovenia. It’s nestled between 3 national parks and between a number of mountain ranges in a secluded area of Slovenia with an amazing array of activities including Stand Up Paddling, rafting, Adventure Park and giant swing.
Students can either stay in dorimatory style rooms with shared bathrooms, or in 3* bedrooms with private bathrooms depending on the school’s needs. An extensive kitchen caters for all dietary needs, and ensures students are well-fed and happy.
Far away from the mass tourism seen in other parts, the location can hold over 100 students at one time depending on the need of the school.
There is an enormous amount of potential activities on offer allowing schools to pick and choose what suits their values and targeted outcomes most.
Schools work together with Explorer Camps to strenghten the link between school curriculum and student outcomes while on camp.
At the heart of Explorer Camps' approach is the loVe of working with children and helping them love themselves.
Explorer Camps uses a wide variety of outdoor activities and resources to enhance students’ learning, mental health and wellbeing, and environmental awareness. At all times, Explorer staff members focus on providing teachable moments through experiences that involve both self-initiative and self-assessment as well as a hands-on activity. It’s the perfect mix for students of all ages.
Immersion in nature is central to all aspects of the Explorer Camps curriculum ensuring students remain electronic free and in the outdoors the entire time while on camp. The day-to-day running of camp is designed to maximise time in challenging activities that grow a greater appreciation and respect of the greater world around us.
Achieving expertise requires practice and focused coaching based on what is observed during practice. Every Explorer experiential learning activity includes a debriefing session where learners receive feedback and coaching from camp experts.
Students at Explorer Camps apply what they’ve been taught to solve real-world challenges. They test their understanding of underlying principles, processes and procedures and can experiment and adapt their practice immediately to achieve best outcomes.
There are more possibilities and opportunities for all students to be together with the same range of activities. Also, the sensory immersion opportunities are far higher so children feel less tied to one specific mode of learning.
The gold standard at Explorer Camps is the student who can self-monitor the effectiveness of their plan, anticipate outcomes and develop contingency plans. As a result, students learn to incorporate target thinking disciplines into everyday practice habits.
Explorer Camps tailor each and every student’s experience according to individual school’s needs. Not only does this empower school administrators to share their goals and vision but it also enables them to provide continued daily feedback which optimises their students’ time with the Explorer team.
While the learning schedule is flexible, it does follow a general structure (see a sample opposite) which students follow on a daily basis. The visiting school is always split into smaller more intimidate groups of approximately 10-12 students, which fosters greater connections and optimises the learning environment.
