Covid-19 and Explorer Camps
EXPLORER CAMPS IS EVEN MORE PREPARED
During the 2021 summer season over 160 children attended Explorer Camps without any cases of Covid-19. It’s a testament to the the hard work and dedication of the entire Explorer team considering the situation around the world at that time.
A key part of this success was the request for children to come to camp healthy and remain that way during the camps. In addition to this, the small group sizes and focus on being outside for most of the day made it much easier to ensure our kids’ and teens’ healthy and safety.
FULL REFUND FOR CANCELLATIONS
Explorer Camps is a BIG family so our familys’ needs always come first. This is the reason that, just like 2021, we will fully refund cancellations that are directly due to Covid-19 issues.
Full refunds will be issued when:
- A positive Covid-19 result (families need to provide electronic proof).
- Airline cancelling flight due to Covid-19 (families need to provide electronic proof).
- Border control not allowing a family to leave their country an/or cross the border with Slovenia.
EXPLORER COVID-19 SPECIFICS
ENTRY TO SLOVENIA
In the summer of 2021 the situation for entering Slovenia for non-essential travel (tourism) was permitted as long as a number of conditions were met.
These conditions have remained in place till now, and we expect them to be further relaxed in the future. Currently mask wearing is also obligatory indoors though we expect this to be relaxed also by summer.
A person / child (12+) can enter Slovenia without quarantine if they provide a negative PCR test (no older than 72 hours) or a negative Rapid test (no older than 24 hours).
If a person / child has a positive PCR test older than 10 days but no older than 180 days, they can also enter Slovenia without quarantine.
A person or child who has had the full vaccination will be allowed to enter Slovenia without any quarantine.
Children under 12 are allowed to enter Slovenia without any proof of tests or vaccinations if they enter with a parent who:
- Has a negative PCR or Rapid Test.
- Has a certificate of recovery or positive PCR test.
- Is fully vaccinated.
CONDITIONS ON CAMP
Explorer Camps ran in 2021 with very few restrictions including not having to wear masks indoors. In fact, it was business as usual for our camps.
Our expectations for 2022 remain the same, especially when there haven’t been any changes in Slovene protocols all winter. We’re certain that our entire camp program will run without any changes with the same fun!
Even though mask wearing is mandatory currently in Slovenia, we do not expect this the coming summer.
A key part of Explorer Camps’ approach has always been to have a maximum of 60 children. As a result, we have 6+ smaller groups of approximately 10 children which ensures it’s easier to control any potential illness or health situations.
Explorer Camps will continue the daily screening as it allowed us to monitor all our campers’ health, and to focus on their general well-being.
This is done every morning before breakfast.
OUTDOOR CAMP
The beauty of Explorer Camps has always been nature and exposing our kids and teens to as much outdoor time as possible.
This approach continues into 2022 with a new target of 9 hours outdoor time per child every day. Not only is this healthy in general, but it also minimises the risks associated with Covid-19.
Being an outdoor camp our kids and teens will spent A LOT of time in nature. This won’t change at all, in fact, we’re increasing the amount of time we are outside.
Instead of being worried that camp will lose some activities, it’s actually quite the opposite because we’re adding them!
