Our training curriculum is continuously refined and encompasses critical areas such as child development and psychology to understand the needs of different age groups, positive behavior management techniques to encourage growth and inclusion, comprehensive emergency protocols and risk management to ensure preparedness, and ongoing activity-specific skill development to maximize both fun and safety in all programs.

CEO / Founder / Director
Steve founded Explorer Camps and brings decades of experience working with children. As an accredited Youth Mental Health and First Responder trainer, he personally guides all staff and is always on-site—ensuring safety, skill, and smiles all summer long.
Tim Earles
Assistant Director
A camp veteran of 6 years—across summer, winter, and school programs—Tim brings a leader’s heart to everything he does. As a father of four and former British Army leader with deep Scout experience, he blends adventure with responsibility, ensuring every child grows in confidence and character.
Filipe De Almeida
Assistant Counselor
A founding member with 10 incredible summers, Filipe is a teacher trained in positive education—and a dad of two. Fluent in multiple languages with global experience, he creates a culture of encouragement and helps every young explorer feel confident, capable, and truly celebrated.
Anja Matteweber
Assistant Director
As a camper at our very first camp, Anja has journeyed from participant to passionate leader. She now brings a therapist’s warmth, expertise, and fun to her role. A licensed psychotherapist, she ensures every child feels deeply understood, genuinely supported, and empowered to shine.

With 7 summers of experience, Niko turns nerves into new friendships. A teacher and youth worker, he ensures every camper feels a true sence of belonging being welcome and celebrated.

After 5 incredible summers, Peter brings the magic of the stage straight to camp. As a professional actor, he’s a teen favorite—turning every moment into a fun, engaging, and unforgettable adventure.

A 6-year veteran, Dr. Piber leads behind the scenes—mentoring staff and first aiders, and shaping our safety-first culture. Her expertise helps keep every adventure both thrilling, safe and secure.
