International Winter and Summer Kids' and Teens' Camps in Slovenia and Austria for 6-17 year olds
Do you know that an EXCELLENT tween camp for 10-12 year olds in Europe like Explorer Camps can have an extremely positive affect on a young person’s life? One of the big attractions of tweens camps is that they build important life skills such as responsibility, accountability, and independence.
The best tween camps create a warm and caring atmosphere where adolescents improve their team work and communication skills in a variety of outdoor activities. 10 – 12 year olds need to be challenged to step outside of their comfort zones and take health risks.
Every year over 70% of Explorer Camp’s 10 – 12 year olds return to the ‘home away from home’ Explorer family. According to satisfied tweens a contributing factor is the fact they’re treated as young adults and are given additional freedom plus responsibilities to prepare them for the real-world.
They have a perfect mix of additional freedom, but still having a majority of their day fully structured under the guidance of experienced staff members. Making true life-long friendships is really what this tween program is all about and why so many come back every year.
A highlight of the Pioneer program for children aged 10 – 12 are the incredible outdoor activities. It’s a step into the world of teenagers with added challenges.
Tweens have their limits pushed while doing rafting, paintball, zip lining and even the Adventure Park. As a result they build more resilience and determination.
Welcome to the world of teenagers! With your child growing we are helping them learn to take healthy risks in our adrenaline activities such as the adventure park (2 weekers), paintball and rafting.
No better way to step outside of their comfort zones and test them limites.
A surprisingly popular session on camp where we introduce 10 – 12 year old children to the world of working as a team.
For many it’s a completely new concept and challenging at first, but something they get a lot out of including communication, collaboration, creativity and critical thinking skills.
The Tweens will have more expectations on them when preparing for an activity plus doing it. Simple things such as bringing water, or the correct shoe wear will be standard expectations of the 10-12 year olds.
They need to start organising themselves and becoming more independent!
It can be difficult transisting from the life of a youngster to the more mature world of a teenager. Luckily our 10 – 12 year olds receive very personal support.
Staff a trained in a wide range of areas so that they can better help your child grow and develop into more rounded and better prepared young adults.
The group size is approximately 10 children, with two staff members giving a child to staff ratio of 5:1. This allows for a lot more personal guidance from staff who act as mentors throughout the camp.
Each day Pioneer groups gather to discuss the day. This empowers our 10 – 12 year olds to express their opinions, learn to listen and also plan ahead.
It’s a really good environment for where campers receive constant feedback where they can reflect and understand themselves a lot better.
At any time of the day, our Pioneers have a mature mentor supervising what they’re doing. At all times this mentor is looking for teachable moments to help their tween campers grow and develop in.
The highlight for our tweens’ camp is creating their own schedule. This empowers our 10 – 12 year olds to take on more responsibility and independence.
This additional choice helps them build life skills, but most importantly it brings the teenagers together to make common decisions and choices.
Unbelievably, our teens have the freedom to think up, create and run their own entertainment at different times during the day and evenings. Of course, this is always done under the close supervision of expert Explorer staff members, however they purposely give little input other to ensure the health and safety of the teens.
As for all campers, the teens can choose between a wide range of different activities to do every afternoon. However, those doing the teen camp are given more power to decide what potential activities they may want to do.
The evening time is perhaps the best time for our 10 – 12 year olds. It’s when they have a lot of downtime to simply chill out in their room, or choose a whole host of other activities. The decision is in their hands.
Friendships are the GOLD of Explorer Camps and it’s something we truly believe in. Our experienced staff actively support teens in building strong friendships.
The key is scheduling in a lot of specific sessions throughout the week(s) where teens learn more about each other to make those positive connections.
The best part of camp? The fact that a majority of teens will meet each other before the camp even begins. This is a specific move to help start the connection process and ensure all teens feel welcome, accepted and are excited to join the camp.
The teens participate in very focused sessions created to bring them more together learning about the likes and dislikes of each other. It’s an important first step in understanding more about the vibe of the group.
Explorer staff members are very well trained in creating opportunities for teens to connect with others. It could be through specifically designed activities, or simple games, or even a 2-3 player activity designed to boost mutual understanding and friendships. It’s the perfect enviroment for all teenagers.
